2022.01.21 17:45 thrwaway4reds1 Dear Buddhists of Reddit... I have to ask?
I was not born Buddhist. I am new to the faith and am serious about it being a constant in my life. I'm looking into different temples to go to and wondering how accepting they are of new comers and whatnot. Does anyone who practices have advice? I'm a bit worried I will be turned away if I don't fit the climate properly. Please any advice big or small is appreciated.

2022.01.21 17:45 Predditor323 How do I transition from Cybersecurity to a Programming career?
Just wanted to see if anyone here can provide useful advice or if anyone here has made a similar transition. So to keep things brief, I graduated college 5 years ago, majored in computer information systems, and I'm currently working in cybersecurity. I do enjoy my job and the career prospects I have in this field, but I feel like my true calling is in programming.
I do have programming skills - I learned C# in college but haven't touched it since so I'm a little rusty. In my current and previous jobs though, I've written Python and Bash scripts to automate some of the more tedious tasks of my job and I found that this is the portion of my job I really enjoy doing. I've worked with API calls on several resources, so I'm comfortable reading documentation and can get a pretty good understanding of things. Even as part of my job, when I'm reading a malware analysis report and they decompile a malware piece, I'll glance at the code to see what the program is trying to do so I do feel knowledgeable and comfortable with it.
Now if I were to interview for a programming position I don't think I have a lot of the knowledge needed. If someone were to ask me about data structures and algorithms and memory allocation, etc., I think I'd just crash and burn. I attribute this to my college education, where we didn't really learn any of these things, we just learned to code and that was it. Looking back, that's where I wish I'd done a major in compsci instead of CIS.
Given all this info, is there any guidance this community can provide? What's the best way or best resource for me to fill my gaps? I've seen several references to leet code in here and other places, not quite sure what it is, but is this something I should look into? Appreciate any help I can get!

2022.01.21 17:45 Fly1n_Hawaiian How was support handled in the early days?
When Ethereum was in its early days 1 - 2 years, how was support handled? If I had a question about my miner or writing a smart contract, what resources were available then? Was Ethereum.org the place for support even back then, or was most of it through forums?

2022.01.21 17:45 blastoff__ Does crypto have a fundamental flaw?
I want to preface this by saying that, like everyone else in here, I think crypto is the future. The longterm outlook on fiat is garbage. But crypto has a huge flaw as well; it’s relationship to fiat.
There’s nothing I’d love more than to see every country recognize Bitcoin as a global store of value/currency. Fiat sucks because they’re always printing more, and it’s purchasing power keeps tanking. But how do we decide the value of BTC without comparing it to fiat?
People are always asking “when do I take profits?” Because as of right now, it’s important to have fiat on hand, whether that be for retirement, an emergency fund etc. When the price of crypto fluctuates, it loses/gains value in relationship to what? Fiat: the dollar (or whatever currency you want to convert it to)
Without fiat, how do we justify or agree upon the value of any given crypto asset? Maybe I’m too new to the space to know (I’ve been invested for a little over a year) but to me, there will always be this relationship to fiat that seems to be holding crypto back.

2022.01.21 17:45 NPC3 Are there miniature versions of the red box cover art characters?
A friend recently commissioned me to make a red dragon in similar colopose as the one on the [red box cover art](https://imgur.com/a/XAnjyko) (thank you Larry Elmore.) He supplied me with the red dragon model that looks very similar. His birthday is coming up (if you are reading this Sterling, look away) and I figure I'll pull the whole monty and recreate the entire scene. I have a few of the old lead miniatures from the days of yore and a lot of them are either based off D&D art or D&D art was based off of them. I am trying to recreate the warrior in the picture, does anyone know if there is a pre-made miniature of that character? (Or any of the other ones for the matter)
